Encryption Is The Key

How is the secret technology protected against BIRD’s prying eyes?

The information on the technology is protected by a cloud-optimized encryption software that also lets the technologist access his data anytime and anywhere during the WAVE test drive.

Before using a cloud service, Andrej needs to ensure that only he and his colleagues can access the data once it is stored and accessed online. He protects the information by encrypting his files. This is crucial, because the sensitive data he wants to store must never fall into wrong hands. His friend Tom is already using such a tool for his personal data. Therefore, the technologist decides to use the solution of Secomba GmbH that has received multiple awards, too.

Secomba_Freitag1According to the agent’s research, BIRD has been trying to crack the encryption for a while. Let’s have them try for a little longer…about 1000 years or so…

While they have a tough time, we’ll have a good time. Cheers!

P.S: Of course it is also important to store print-outs and hard-copies safely.

Retrospective – Boxcryptor´s founders introduce themselves

Do you remember? Only a couple of years ago we were bound to carry our data around on a USB-Stick or a CD to have it with us all of the time. This changed fundamentally with the introduction of cloud. With the help of Dropbox and Co. we can access our data anywhere at any time and exchange it with others – even on mobile devices.

The cloud offers comfort and flexibility.

Secomba_140411_180However, the more popular these cloud services became, the more questions about security arose. How save is my data if it is no longer stored in my pocket but on servers all over the world? How do I protect it against third-person-access? This question arose to us, Robert Secomba_kurz_BoxcryptorFreudenreich and Andrea Pfundmeier, the founders of Secomba GmbH, but we couldn´t find a satisfying solution on the market at that time. And this is why we developed our own cloud-optimized encryption solution Boxcryptor which ensures data protection within the cloud at the beginning of 2011.

Within a short time we saw that we were not the only ones in need of this. So we made Boxcryptor available online. Our software was downloaded over a 1,000 times within a week, and we received a lot of positive feedback. Boxcryptor has officially been available on the market since May 2011 and more than 100,000 users around the world have put their trust into our product so far. It is our goal to adapt this solution to other areas of the cloud as well to ensure users the highest possible security made in Augsburg. In the beginning we received funding from the ministry of economy as part of the “EXIST-Founder Funding” and in 2012 we were able to convince a group of German business angels of our idea and win them as investors.

Secomba_KickernEver since our foundation we have been building up a highly motivated and innovated team that is always on the look-out for the best solutions for data security in the cloud. Boxcryptor continues to delight users and customers that come from more than 100 countries worldwide use our highly awarded solution. We consciously grow our team as we strive to improve, extend, and perfect our solution every day. Nevertheless, we know that there’s more to a life than to work hard: On Friday evenings we put on our game hat, open a bottle of cold beer and get some action on the foosball table going.

It has never been this easy to protect your data from third parties

Boxcryptor is an easy-to-use encryption software optimized for the cloud. It allows the secure use of cloud storage services without sacrificing comfort. Boxcryptor supports all major cloud storage providers (such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive, SugarSync) and supports all the clouds that use the WebDAV standard (such as Strato HiDrive, Telekom Cloud). Boxcryptor lets you store files with your cloud provider well-protected and gives you peace of mind knowing that your information cannot fall into the wrong hands. Here is how it works:

Boxcryptor creates a virtual drive on your computer that allows you to encrypt your files locally before uploading them to your cloud or clouds of choice. It encrypts individual files – and does not create containers. Any file dropped into an encrypted folder within the Boxcryptor drive will be encrypted automatically before it is synced to the cloud. Boxcryptor uses the secure AES-256 and RSA encryption algorithms to protect your files.

Secomba_Boxcryptor_Screenshot2Accessing your files on the go – anywhere and anytime – is easy with Boxcryptor. Our apps for Android and iOS provide you with quick and secure access to your files from your mobile devices, all at your convenience.
