How to address bias and diversity in data?

The use of machine learning algorithms is constantly rising. In order to prevent unfair bias and increase accurate representation we need data that reflect the diversity within the topic at hand.

Radhika Krishnan, Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, discusses with Britta Muzyk-Tikovsky, CEO of Capscovil Innovation Agency and editor-in-chief of Chillipicks, why diversity in data is so important, what has changed in the past decades and what it will take to increase diversity in data. Hint: it’s a task for all of us. Radhika Krishnan

Radhika is Chief Product Officer and General Manager at Hitachi Vantara. She combines a deep technical expertise and extensive business management experience in the B2B field. During her career Radhika has created and scaled several businesses in the software and cloud infrastructure area. Prior to Hitachi Vantara she worked at leading companies including Lenovo, Network Applicance, Cisco and Hewlett Packard.

Britta Muzyk-Tikovsky

Britta is founder and CEO of Capscovil Innovation Agency where she creates business and marketing strategies for clients. She is also editor-in-chief of Chillipicks – an inspirational newsletter and knowledge base on unusual innovation with a focus on sustainability, diversity and in tech. Britta has written several novels, including spy novel Project Black Hungarian, diversity novel GAME-Faint Signals and short novel The Chance set in Toronto. Additionally, she is founder of the initiative Diversity Natives.
