Cyber Security for the Network

On October 25th, 2018, the 9th edition of the annual vendor independent cyber security conference DSS IT SEC organized by IT specialist Data Security Solutions took place in the National Library in Riga, Latvia. Since 2010, the event has continuously grown and attracted thousands of top IT security professionals, IT companies and government officials to join forces. Their major goal is to ensure the security of the Baltic sea region, and to raise awareness on cyber security across all public and private sectors.

Thousands who attended the event onsite and via live streaming followed the talks and discussions. In seven parallel session more than 60 speakers shared their insights into cyber security and crime, especially with a focus on mobile and network security, training, research, and hacking.

In one panel on network security Fabio Palozza, EMEA Presales Director at Radware, Georg Nikolajevski, Trust Services Sales Manager at SK ID Solutions/ Estonian ICT Cluster and Tudor Florescu, Sales Engineer at Bitdefender discussed with Capscovil’s founder Britta Muzyk-Tikovsky the threats and solutions for companies and consumers alike.

Modern cyber threats require solutions that go far beyond simple network traffic monitoring. What’s necessary, even mandatory, are self-learning security systems. One area this needs to be used for is customer identification and digital signing. In general, technologies like machine learning and AI are well suited but also offer a new level of threats.
